The importance and need of auto owners insurance
Posted on October 25th, 2011
Auto owner’s insurance is something that is needed not only by the requirements of the law but also for the general monetary well being of a car owner. When a person invests in buying a car, the person obviously feels a need to do everything that can be done in order to keep the car safe and to ensure that no harm or damage come to the car. However careful a person may remain, there are certain things that cannot be controlled and the car may get damaged. The reason for the damage could be a road accident due to the carelessness of another driver or a natural calamity in which the car may get damaged. These are things that are not in the hands of a person and they occur unannounced. T

Ford contributes to green movement with recycling
Posted on October 22nd, 2011
Ford is really getting involved in the fuel-efficiency movement, and it has four million pounds of recycled carpet to prove it.
Ford Motor Company says that it helped save more than 400,000 gallons of oil by recycling 4.1 million pounds of carpet, which was used to make various car parts like cylinder head covers.
The car company said it did this by moving away from making engine parts out of virgin material.
Cylinder heads made out of nylon
Since last year, Ford says it’s been making cylinder head covers with nylon that’s taken out of scrap carpet material.

Auto Insurance Company Rewarding Teens
Posted on October 17th, 2011
Auto insurance companies are always competing to win business, but MetLife had more in mind when they started their new Teens on the Road to Safety Program. This program is specifically designed to encourage young drivers to make safe driving a priority. The press release on Business Wire details how the program is expected to work.
MetLife Auto Insurance knew something needed to be done to reign in the number of accidents being caused by teenagers on the road. One in three teenage deaths occur in car crashes and MetLife believes that can be prevented through education and awareness. The program encourages young drivers to stay safe on the road by offering drivers who go a full year without accidents, claims or moving violations a $50 gift card from American Express. If

The takeaway: It’s often very important that truck accident lawyers look at what information is on these devices after a serious truck crash or a death caused by a truck accident. Why?

RSA accused of inflating repair costs
Posted on September 25th, 2011
RSA stands accused of boosting profits by using a subsidiary to inflate its motor insurance repair costs.
According to BBC Radio 4s Money Box programme, a recent court case resulted in Circuit Judge, Judge John Platt, finding that RSA Accident Repairs had increased labour costs without carrying out any work itself, and made other charges it could not account for.
Money Box also reported that some insurers are currently highly sceptical about claims being presented by RSA Accident Repairs, and are refusing to settle.
In the case heard by Judge Platt, the BBC reports that the hourly rate for repairs was increased from £36 to £39.50 an hour without explanation; £118 was added for a road test, cleaning and an environmental charge, and £110 added for transporting the damaged vehicle when it was drivable, and the repair arrangements were local.
Meanwhile RSA is keen for motorists to be able to see clearly, if not in the area of repair costs.
The insurer has launched a campaign highlighting the dangers of driving with poor eyesight, having commissioned research which suggests that drivers with the legal minimum level of eyesight struggle to maintain a constant speed and are more likely to stray across lanes.
The study also claims that the current UK number plate test is not fit for purpose and the insurer wants distance vision tested by a qualified professional, prior to a person applying for a provisional driving licence.
